How do I have my credit details modified or removed?

Submit a request to the credit provider
If you disagree with your registration because it is incorrect, incomplete or not/no longer justified, you should get in touch with the credit provider that registered the credit. The credit provider has your file and can use it to assess whether your registration should be modified or removed. Go to your credit provider's website to find out how to contact your credit provider.

If your credit provider agrees with you, they will request BKR to modify or remove your details within 21 days. BKR will process the credit provider's request within one workday. If the credit provider disagrees with you, you can either accept their explanation or submit a complaint to the Financial Services Complaints Tribunal (Kifid) or the Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP). Both are free of charge. You may also file a request in court, but this will involve fees and charges.

Submit a request to BKR
You may request BKR to modify or remove your registration. Please use this form. You will need your consumer or access number, among others. You receive a consumer or access number when you view your credit summary online or via a request form. Based on your consumer or access number, we can identify you to ensure your privacy.

Note that we do not have your credit file, so we do not have insight into the background of your registration. However, this information could be relevant in order to assess your request. In that case, we will share your request with the credit provider and ask them to provide us with information. As a result, your request could take longer.

If you disagree with BKR’s decision, you may file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP) or file a request in court. Note that this will involve fees and charges.
